Why We Do This

Youth Recovery Housing Solutions is being created to fill a gaping hole in our recovery system for Substance Use Disorder. As it stands, no adolescent sober living exists. There are Substance Use Disorder treatment centers for children, but none that support the ongoing recovery of its patients. Standard parental supervision is not enough to keep these young people sober. They need special support and a safe place to go after treatment.

The statistics of long-term sobriety among rehab patients are grim: roughly 85% of patients relapse within a year of attending treatment. Sober living is a necessary next step for addicts and alcoholics seeking to maintain their sobriety after treatment.

Adolescents are uniquely disadvantaged in recovery. Under parental care, most adolescents leave treatment and return to the same environment that enabled their addiction to progress. Unlike adults who live independently, most parents are not equipped to support the massive undertaking of caring for a child with a potentially fatal disease.

Adolescent sober living is key. Without a safe place to go after treatment, virtually nothing is being done to stop these children from either dying of this disease, or from becoming adults in active addiction.

We hope that you take a moment to view the personal stories on our website to really get a feel for how desperately we need to repair our recovery system.
