Policies and Procedures
Medication Policy
Residents, under no condition, may take Suboxone, Amphetamines, Methadone, Gabapenton, K2/Spice, Kratom, Phenibut, Tramadol, Cannabis, or any kind of Benzodiazepine while in our care. Residents will keep their medication in the staff office. Staff will be responsible for administering the medication and recording the administration. Any medication found on residents outside of the staff room will result in disciplinary action and may be grounds for discharge.
Drug Screening Policy
Residents will be subject to a urinalysis screening at any time and as frequently as necessary. The objective is to cultivate in our residents the principles of sobriety and accountability.
If Benzodiazepines, Amphetamines, or Cannabis are in a resident’s system at time of admission–due to alcohol dependence, Suboxone from recent detox, or with YRHS permission to enter with cannabis in the system–YRHS reserves the right to discharge a resident if they appear intoxicated, impaired, or high, EVEN if they pass all other tests.
Relapse Policy
If a resident relapses, their legal guardian must retrieve them immediately. The resident will not be allowed back into our care until after three days, and after they can pass a drug screening exam and breathalyzing test.
If the resident cannot do so in three days, they will have to complete a thirty-day stay in a residential treatment center in order to re-enter our program. At this point the parent has one week to retrieve their belongings.
Grounds for Discharge
A resident will be asked to leave under the following conditions:
- A resident relapses
- Sexual harassment
- Severe physical altercations
- Smuggling of illegal paraphernalia
- Any attempt to tamper with or avoid drug-screening
- Leaving the residence without permission
- Sneaking unauthorized guests into the residence
- Argumentative, belligerent, or rude behavior from guardians of residents
- Failure to pay program fees in a timely manner
- Any attempts from a guardian to undermine the integrity or rules of YRHS
We reserve the right to add to this list at our discretion. Staff, the President, the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors will thoroughly review the case at hand to determine whether a resident’s actions are grounds for dismissal.
Disciplinary Action Policy
YRHS is a second-chance rather than a correctional program. We believe that problematic behavior is a symptom of a deeper wound. As such, disciplinary measures are taken case by case with an eye to understanding why a resident is acting out.
Behavior that threatens staff, volunteers, or other residents, will be handled with regard to the community as a whole.
Insurance Policy
YRHS will be insured by Gallagher Insurance. This covers general and professional liability, as well as one million dollars coverage in umbrella liability.
