Our Vision

Our vision grows from the words of Frederick Douglass: “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” We offer a place where some of the most vulnerable, and the most valuable, members of our community can grow. Without proper support, these children, if they survive, will graduate into lives as adults in active addiction. Our mission is to do everything we can to stop this disease in its tracks.

About Us

Youth Recovery Housing Solutions addresses the inadequacy of our existing recovery system for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) in order to meet the needs of youth who would benefit from living in a highly supportive recovery community after treatment.

Our non-profit will serve as our country's first sober living home for adolescents ages 13-17. We will support youth in their recovery from SUD through creating an environment that gently reintegrates them into every day life.

Our Stories

Working as a therapist at an addiction treatment center for adolescents, I noticed that my clients were not receiving comprehensive treatment for their disease. As it stands, no adolescent sober living exists for minors.

I talked with many of her patients' parents who all shared the same worry: they were not prepared for the massive undertaking of caring for a child with a potentially fatal disease.

Our organization was born out of the overwhelming need for adolescent sober living. With community support, we will open doors by January of this year.

About a year ago, I found myself in a position to help a fifteen year old girl find recovery from addiction. For anonymity purposes, we call her Sarah.

Sarah wanted recovery so badly. She had been kicked out of every one of her family member's houses due to her being in active addiction. She found herself at her grandparents house with nothing to do, and with little to no support or accountability.

Sarah eventually relapsed, and I haven't heard from her since. I don't even know whether she is alive or not.

Sarah motivates me to do all in my power to insure that children like her, who want a better way of life, have the support to change.
